SAN DIEGO -- Chris Stratton gave the Giants a welcome performance on multiple levels Thursday night, allowing one hit in seven dominant innings to lead a 7-0 win over the Padres at Petco Park.
Stratton delivered his stout effort at an opportune time -- the start of a three-city, nine-game road trip. He also bolstered the Giants' hopes for weathering the absences of their top three starters -- Madison Bumgarner, Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija.
Stratton joins Cueto as the only Giants starters to last seven innings this season.
