SAN FRANCISCO — One of the most popular players in the Giants dugout will spend his next season battling against his former team.
Catcher Stephen Vogt reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with a vesting option for 2021 with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. The deal was first reported by ESPN.
Vogt is one of a handful of catchers including Yasmani Grandal and Travis d’Arnaud who have already found new homes this offseason as the MLB free agent market heats up.
After missing the first month of the season while recovering from a 2018 shoulder surgery, Vogt joined the Giants in May and became a valuable asset as Buster Posey’s backup.
