Spring Headlines: Edwin Encarnacion shut down with oblique injury (Big League Stew)

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion's 2016 spring debut is going to happen a bit later than expected. The 33-year-old slugger has been shut down for at least a week with an oblique injury, according to Mike Wilner of Sportsnet.

Manager John Gibbons classified the injury as "minor," but stressed that oblique injuries can often become worse, so the team wants to be cautious with one of its key players.

That said, Encarnacion is going to cut it close to being ready for the regular season, even if he is able to return in about a week.
