San Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell has been on a historic tear—or terror might be more apt.

Going into this afternoon’s start, Snell had allowed only 5 earned runs over his last 45.1 innings pitched. Five of his last seven outings have been scoreless including a no-hitter. In six of those seven he’s thrown at least 6 complete innings, bucking a career trend of early exits that has hobbled his greatness while maintaining his elite tendencies. In three of his last four starts, he’s recorded double-digit strikeout figures. Since July 9th kicked off by his resurgent appearance against Toronto, Snell hasn’t allowed more than four hits in a start, and opponents are collectively batting .
