The starting pitcher whom Giants fans covet is officially a free agent. Zach Greinke has opted out of the three years remaining on his contract with the Dodgers.
That became clear Wednesday morning when the Players Associated included Greinke on a list of 12 new free agents.
Now, the question becomes, do the Giants go after the 32-year-old right-hander, who had a historically good season with Los Angeles, making him a prime candidate to be named the National League Cy Young award winner next week?
Greinke was 19-3 with a 1.66 ERA.
