Monday was quite a day for San Francisco Giants pitchers. Not current ones, mind you, but pitchers who were recently employed by the Giants. Game 1 of the ALCS pitted a pair of recent Giants All-Stars against each other, as Alex Cobb and Carlos Rodón squared off. And over in Game 2 of the NLCS, Sean Manaea took the mound at Chavez Ravine. Between the two Championship Series games, exactly three starting pitchers were used: one was a Giant in 2024, one in 2023, and one in 2022.
They mostly performed well. Cobb struggled, but Rodón was dominant, as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Guardians to take a 5-2 in the series opener.
