As the San Francisco Giants opened their 25th season at the corner of 3rd and King streets with Tuesday’s exhibition game against the A’s, they did so without the only primary voice Oracle Park has ever known — and used a Dodgers fan to fill the role.
It’s been just over a week since the Giants officially announced that Renel Brooks-Moon would not return as the public address announcer at Oracle Park. While the team’s announcement of the move claimed the Giants and the announcer agreed to “mutually and amicably” split up, multiple reports indicated that Brooks-Moon — a Bay Area native — wanted to stay on past the end of her contract last December.
