After a disrupted journey (literally and figuratively) to the major leagues, San Francisco Giants prospect David Villar didn’t wait long to make his presence known.
Starting at second base in his MLB debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday, Villar launched the first pitch he saw from ex-Giant Madison Bumgarner off the right field wall for a stand-up double.
Villar missed connecting for his first home run by less than six feet.
In his very next at bat, Villar collected his first career RBI, lining a single to right to bring in Evan Longoria from second.
