SF Giants miss out on another top free agent, Corbin Burnes reportedly agrees to join Diamondbacks

In what’s become something of an annual tradition, the San Francisco Giants missed out on another marquee free agent on Friday, as righthanded starting pitcher Corbin Burnes reportedly agreed to terms with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

According to multiple reports, Burnes is going to Arizona on a $210 million contract over six years, though he will have an opt out after two years. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman was first to report on the move late Friday night.

A four-time All-Star with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles, Burnes has been one of the top pitchers of the decade, including winning the NL Cy Young in 2021.
