The San Francisco Giants have signed Korean infielder Jae-Gyun Hwang to a minor league contract. John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the deal is worth $1.5 million, plus incentives. Hwang hit .330/.391/.558 in 118 games for Lotte Giants in Korea with 26 homers and 24 steals, just 64 K’s in 522 AB’s.
Don’t worry Giants fans, he’s not going to push Brandon Crawford or Joe Panik away from their positions. If he cracks the roster, he’ll be knocking on the door of third baseman Eduardo Nunez.
