There’s no question that Bryce Eldridge is the top prospect in the San Francisco Giants farm system and one of the best in baseball in general. In his first chance to play with the big league team this spring, the 20-year-old absolutely destroyed a ball for a homer to center field.
Yet after a quick start, including another base hit in the second spring game, Eldridge had a brutal week that ended with him getting sent back to the minor leagues Wednesday morning. In his lone full week of MLB spring games, the lanky left-handed hitter struck out in eight of his 12 trips to the plate, including in seven of his last eight.
