On Saturday, February 15, the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s broke with tradition.
The Bay Area rivals hadn’t executed a trade since 2004, but Giants executive Farhan Zaidi and A’s executive Billy Beane finally broke the drought when San Francisco sent right-handed pitcher Burch Smith to Oakland in exchange for cash considerations.
The deal wasn’t exactly a blockbuster considering there were no guarantees Smith would make the A’s Opening Day roster, but it’s turned out to be a great move for. . .
