Another historic home run into McCovey Cove has put a well-known San Francisco Giants fan back into the social media fire.
Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos hit a home run into San Francisco Bay on Sunday, becoming the first right-handed batter to hit a splash hit in the 25-year existence of Oracle Park. Like so many past splash hits, Dave Edlund — or “McCovey Cove Dave” — was the one who grabbed the ball out of the water.
Edlund has been a consistent presence in his kayak for the past 20 years and has been anticipating the first right-handed homer into the cove for just as long.
