Patrick Bailey’s rough defensive start to the season looks well behind him, as the San Francisco Giants catcher took down one of the best base runners in baseball with style Wednesday.
During the bottom of the sixth in a 1-1 tie, Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. tried to steal second on the first pitch of Josh Bell’s at-bat. Bailey nabbed the pitch from Keaton Winn and, in one fluid motion, immediately got into a perfect stance to make a pinpoint throw to shortstop Nick Ahmed, whose outstretched arms tagged out the would-be base stealer.
