While the San Francisco Giants’ extra-inning walk-off win against the Astros on Monday was a thing of beauty, Duane Kuiper’s call of the victory was anything but, thanks to a feature of Oracle Park that he’s always hated.
The veteran Giants broadcaster was lost for words after Austin Slater capped off a three-run rally in the bottom of the 10th with a line drive off the left field wall to give San Francisco a 4-3 win.
As soon as the ball left Slater’s bat, Kuiper began his call with his trademark crescendo indicating that this would be a game-winning play: “High drive to left!
