The growing tension of whether the San Francisco Giants will keep or fire president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi pales in comparison with the ongoing tension among Giants beat reporters that has emerged over the past three days.
It all began on Sunday when the Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly published a bombshell report that part-owner, and ballclub legend, Buster Posey went over Zaidi’s head to get the extension with Matt Chapman finished after the team got frustrated with how long contract talks were taking. Despite Baggarly’s insistence otherwise, fans and observers could not help but treat it as an indication that the Giants executive’s days were numbered, or at least that Posey is now the guy who’s actually in charge.
