ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — San Jose Municipal Stadium was the place to be Friday night. On the mound in the sixth inning was Sergio Romo. At the plate was the Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig, both rehabbing injuries for their clubs’ California League teams.
Romo struck out Puig, who was the “beer batter,” which meant half-price suds for the 4,247 fans, at least those over 21.
Romo was starting his second minor-league rehab assignment in a bid to return from an elbow injury that has kept him on the disabled list since April 11. Romo was days away from rejoining the Giants in late May when he had a setback.
