SAN MATEO -- Sprinkling wit and self-deprecation into a heartfelt message of compassion, Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who suffered a vicious beating after attending a Dodgers game in Los Angeles in 2011, urged roughly 200 freshmen and sophomores at Hillsdale High School on Thursday to rid their campus of bullying.
Stow, 47, led the students in an anti-bullying pledge and showed photos of the injuries he suffered when he was attacked outside Dodger Stadium. He provided a visceral example of the devastating harm that can be inflicted by violence and aggression. Afterward several dozen students lined up to thank Stow, shake his hand and take photos with him.
