The buzz of excitement that comes every year on Opening Day for the San Francisco Giants has been dampened as a result of multiple injuries to key players heading into the first game of the season.
Third baseman Evan Longoria and left fielder Lamonte Wade Jr. will both miss the start of 2022 due to injury. Longoria will undergo surgery to his right index finger, and Wade Jr. will rest to recover from left knee inflammation and a bone bruise that an MRI scan recently revealed.
The longer-term prognosis for both players is still up in the air as they’ll each be reevaluated in 10 days to see how much more time they’ll need to recover.
