While the San Francisco Giants finished 2019 with a 77-85 record, there were a lot of positive takeaways from a season of growth for a team in transition.
Among them were a number of under-the-radar gems unearthed by new team president Farhan Zaidi, who cast a wide net in his search for discount talent while filling out the roster.
The roster was seemingly in a constant state of turnover throughout the season, and while a number of their outside additions failed to stick, a few emerged as consistent contributors along the way.
Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski slugged his way to a productive rookie season, a healthy Alex Dickerson provided a significant offensive spark in July, journeyman infielder Donovan Solano carved out a regular role, reliever Trevor Gott was a stable middle relief option and outfielder Kevin Pillar became the team’s top offensive producer in a number of categories.
