The San Francisco Giants were having big expectations coming into the 2018 MLB season. The team was coming back from a disappointing 2017 season where they finished in last place in the NL West division and last in the entire National League. They had their worst season in more than 30 years and changes are now needed quickly. The general manager of the team at the time Bobby Evans made two big acquisitions before the start of the 2018 MLB season by adding two all-star players via trades. The Giants first acquired third-baseman Evan Longoria from the Tampa Bay Rays in December 2017 and one month later, acquired outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 15, 2018.
