He was rushed to the hospital in Fairfield on Monday night after being “stricken at a golf course,” according to Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.
A team official confirmed that the situation is serious.
Team spokeswoman Staci Slaughter had no new information on Mr. Cepeda’s condition or the nature of his illness as of Monday, but it was believed to be serious.
The Fairfield Fire Department confirmed that units were dispatched to the Rancho Solano Golf Course.
The Cepeda family has already dealt with tragedy recently as Mirian Ortiz, Orlando’s wife of 26 years, died in April at age of 62.
