Alguacil will coach first base and Nevin will coach third. It is the first time either have coached at the big league level. They are replacing Roberto Kelly and Bill Hayes, who were let go by the team at the end of the season.
Alguacil spent six seasons (1993-98) as an infielder in the San Francisco Giants farm system and returned to the organization in 2007 to work as a roving instructor. After eight seasons in that capacity, he spent 2015 as the manager of the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. The team began the season 0-15 and yet ended the season with a winning record and missed the playoffs by a single game.
