In order to make room for prospect Conner Menez to make his MLB debut on Sunday, the San Francisco Giants bumped Drew Pomeranz to the bullpen and designated Derek Holland for assignment.
Signed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal during the offseason, Pomeranz posted a 6.42 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 17 starts before he was bumped from the starting staff. He tallied just one quality start, and that came back on April 24.
So what is his role going forward?
His first two appearances out of the bullpen could be a good indication.
