SAN FRANCISCO — Attendance is down across Major League Baseball, but few teams have felt the sting of a dip in ticket purchases quite like the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants’ April attendance dropped 17 percent from 2018 as the club averaged just 32,700 fans in 15 home games. That’s down from an average April attendance of 39,278 fans a season ago and suggests the franchise may have long-term concerns about the club’s ability to fill the seats at Oracle Park.
Giants executives expected an attendance decline after the team lost a combined 187 games over the last two seasons and did little to improve a roster that finished in fourth place a year ago.
