SAN FRANCISCO — Twenty two players have worn No. 22 since Will Clark last donned the jersey for the San Francisco Giants.
No Giants player will ever wear it again.
San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer announced Sunday that Clark’s No. 22 will be retired in 2020 during a pregame ceremony honoring the 1989 Giants team.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable,” Clark said. “It’s something I will never forget. And it is my Hall of Fame.”
Clark, a six-time All-Star who spent eight of his 15 major league seasons with the Giants, thanked his teammates, coaching staff and fans for their support.
