SAN DIEGO — The San Francisco Giants have struggled to sign and develop top international talent over the last two decades, but there’s a belief inside the organization that the tide is beginning to turn.
The Giants announced their latest wave of international free agents Tuesday, signing 25 prospects including the No. 23 international player available according to MLB.com, left-handed pitcher Esmerlin Vinicio of the Dominican Republic.
Vinicio was the only player on MLB.com’s top 30 international prospects list to sign with the Giants, but his reported bonus of $800,000 was not the largest bonus the organization gave out.
