Giants starter Jeff Samardzija exited Tuesday's game vs. the Rockies with right shoulder tightness. Samardzija allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout in the first inning, but didn't return for the second after a dugout conversation with manager Bruce Bochy, pitching coach Curt Young and athletic trainer Dave Groeschner.
Samardzija, who snapped a bat over his leg in frustration after the conversation, was replaced by right-hander Dereck Rodriguez, making his Major League debut. Rodriguez, 25, is the son of Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez and recorded his first big league strikeout by fanning Rockies starter Kyle Freeland.
