WASHINGTON — During a July 28 home game against the Nats, TV cameras caught Johnny Cueto in the dugout demonstrating his windup shimmy to reliever Derek Law, leading viewers to believe that Cueto was teaching it to the rookie.
That was not what was happening, but Law has started to mimic Cueto’s quick pitch and is using it effectively. Law is doing everything effectively. He has pitched 14 consecutive scoreless outings and raised his spot in the bullpen hierarchy with a great audition to be a setup man or even closer down the road.
