BALTIMORE — Since the Giants moved from New York to San Francisco in 1958, the club’s starting rotation had never performed as poorly over a full month as it did this May.
Giants starters finished May with a miserable, league-worst 7.32 ERA as two veterans –Derek Holland and Drew Pomeranz– lost grips on rotation spots while three others –Andrew Suárez, Tyler Beede and Dereck Rodríguez– shuttled back and forth between Triple-A Sacramento and San Francisco.
Thanks to rookie Shaun Anderson, there’s hope for the month of June.
Anderson became the first Giants starter in 41 games to complete seven innings as the right-hander picked up his first career win in a 8-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
