What’s left of the Giants’ season is a kind of checklist, monitoring not so much the scoreboard but certain players’ performances. Friday night was a mixed bag in that regard as the Colorado Rockies and the phenomenal Nolan Arenado pounded out a 9-3 victory at AT&T Park.
On the night rookie Matt Duffy won the coveted Willie Mac Award as the Giants’ most inspirational player, Arenado displayed an entirely different level of third baseman, unmatched in either league. Such revered ex-stars as Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken have raved about Arenado’s defensive prowess, and this game featured his 42nd home run and 130th RBI.
