Rockets misfire on opening night

With the NBA in full swing:

•What’s the opposite of “gangbusters”? Whatever it is, that’s how Houston came out of the gate in its season opener against Denver, losing by 20 points at home. As the Rockets regrouped for the Warriors’ arrival Friday night, head coach Kevin McHale told reporters “we had no movement. We had no attack. We had no pace. I can’t think of anything we did well.”

Among the missing: Dwight Howard, serving a suspension carried over from last season. He’ll be in uniform against the Warriors.

Most impressive player on the floor: Emmanuel Mudiay, the Nuggets’ 19-year-old rookie point guard, looking as if he’s been in the league for years.
