Robbie Ray returns as Giants bust game open late

ESTRAGON: The season’s finished. Let’s sell.

VLADIMIR: We can’t.

ESTRAGON: Why not?

VLADIMIR: We’re waiting for Robbie Ray.

The long wait ended Wednesday night for the San Francisco Giants. Robbie Ray threw five no-hit innings in his first start in a Giants uniform, and the team, which seemed to be as stagnant and hopeless as characters in a Beckett play, broke out with a six-run 8th inning to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-3. They even stole a base! Twice!

The game didn’t start with a lot of promise. Ray hit two of the first four batters he faced and threw two wild pitches.
