SAN FRANCISCO — Fourteen hours after a surprise call from Bobby Evans that had Trevor Brown racing down the hall to wake up his parents, the catcher was trying to familiarize himself with a big league clubhouse. That’s when Brown ran into Jake Peavy, his battery-mate during a half-dozen of Peavy’s rehab starts earlier this season.
“Brownie!” Peavy yelled on the day Brown got called up, bringing the rookie in for a hug.
Monday’s moment between the two was much more subdued. Peavy and Brown were never on the same page on the field, but after a thrilling 3-2 win that was spurred by both and kept the Giants alive, Peavy stopped by the rookie's locker.
