If the Giants are interested in acquiring Phillies second baseman, they will now have to compete with all other interested teams.
The veteran second baseman reportedly cleared revocable waivers Tuesday according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
It appears all 29 other MLB teams passed on the chance to have exclusive trading rights with the Phillies for Utley's services.
With Utley clearing waivers, the Phillies can discuss a possible trade with any team. Utley has 10 years of MLB service and at least five years with his current team, so he has the right to veto any deal the Phillies agree to.
