Report: Padres in talks with Giants free agent Jake Peavy

The Giants have a handful of free agents still on the market and the division-rival Padres are reportedly talking with one of them -- a familiar face.

San Diego "has had discussions" with veteran right-hander Jake Peavy, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

Peavy made $15 million last season and went 5-9 with a 5.54 ERA in his third season with the Giants. He was demoted to the bullpen when the team acquired Matt Moore at the trade deadline.

The 35-year-old broke into the majors with the Padres in 2002 and went 92-68 with a 3.
