Matt Duffy's turbulent season appears to be over.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, lingering soreness in Duffy's left Achilles will force the Rays to shut him down with season-ending surgery as the next step of action.
Following an August 1 trade from the Giants to Tampa Bay, Duffy appeared in 20 games, hitting .284 with three doubles, one home run and seven RBI. When he joined the Rays, he converted to shortstop.
"We want to be 100 percent sure that we're ready to go by next season.
