On the surface, a report that former A’s manager and current Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren is a candidate to replace Bruce Bochy in San Francisco may not seem to make sense.
Could the Giants really replace the most successful manager in their history with the only A’s manager over the past 33 years who didn’t lead Oakland to the postseason or even finish with a winning season?
However, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman reported Wednesday that Geren, who worked with Giants President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi in both Oakland and Los Angeles, “is thought to be a managerial candidate” to take over for the retiring Bochy.
