The Giants appear to have signed a notable name to a minor league deal, and it comes with an interesting twist.
Kyle Drabek, a first-round pick of Phillies in 2006 and son for 13-year MLB veteran Doug Drabek, has inked a deal with the Giants according to Baseball America's Matt Eddy.
But rather than sign him as a pitcher, the Giants intend to look at converting the 28-year-old to shortstop. According to the report, the Giants haven't ruled out using Drabek as a pitcher.
Baseball America dug up Drabek's draft report from 2006 which stated that The Woodlands High School alum "could also make a case for being the best high school position player in the (2006) draft.
