In the ever-revolving door of veteran outfielders, the Giants appear to have found another one.
And they are plucking this one out of independent baseball.
A day after designating Justin Ruggiano for assignment, the Giants have reportedly agreed to a minor league deal with journeyman Jerry Sands.
News of the deal was first reported by SB Nation.
Sands, 25th round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2008, has spent the 2017 season playing the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League.
In 39 games for Somerset, Sands is hitting .319/.387/.688 with 14 doubles, 13 home runs and 45 RBI.
