The Giants did not make a big splash in free agency, and their top signee, third baseman Casey McGehee, did not even make it through a full season with San Francisco.
The 32-year-old infielder is reportedly on his way back to his former team, the Miami Marlins, after being officially released by the Giants.
McGehee was designated for assignment multiple times just midway through the Giants' regular-season schedule.
He is batting .213 with a .275 on-base percentage and .299 slugging percentage over 49 games with the Giants this year.
McGehee found himself in a battle for a starting spot with Matt Duffy for a good portion of the year.
