Remembering the 2012 All-Star Game

The 2019 MLB All-Star game is tonight, and if you don’t find yourself titillated, it’s probably clear why. The Giants have played 815 innings of baseball this year, and they are represented at the Midsummer Classic by 36.1 innings of them.

Yes, reliever Will Smith is the only Giant playing in the All-Star Game, meaning San Francisco’s odds of being a storyline tonight are about as high as my odds of making next year’s roster.

But it wasn’t always that way (and the optimist in me is contractually obligated to inform you that it won’t always be that way, either).
