Buster Posey is trying to become only the third catcher in major-league history to win multiple batting titles, joining Ernie Lombardi and Joe Mauer. As it turns out, Posey could give chase while playing mostly first base.
That’s where he was Saturday, as the Giants fell 6-0 to Arizona on a warm afternoon in China Basin. The Diamondbacks scored three early runs against Mike Leake, while left-hander Patrick Corbin smothered San Francisco’s stagnant offense.
The Giants, who also were shut out Friday night, have gone 19 consecutive innings without scoring.
