SAN FRANCISCO -- Catcher Buster Posey was scratched from the Giants' starting lineup Tuesday night vs. the Red Sox due to nerve irritation in his right thumb.
Posey said he's been dealing with the situation on and off all season.
"It may effect some power," manager Bruce Bochy said. "If that hand is not right, you're going to lose some power."
Posey is hitting .257 with eight homers and 26 RBIs this year. He was available to pinch-hit.
