Every home strikeout from Clayton Kershaw, 163 of them in 2015, was accompanied by an annoying repetition of the opening bars from Beethoven’s “Fifth.”
This is not going to be an anti-Dodgers screed. I have nothing against them. I grew up in L.A. and learned to love baseball at Chavez Ravine with my dad. Fine organization, beautiful park, Vin Scully, lots of championships, blah blah blah.
This is a plea for the Dodgers to live up to an imaginary baseball Geneva Convention and stop destroying our ears and love of classical music with one of the most annoying, chalk-on-blackboard sounds to emanate from any ballpark.
