SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–Texas Rangers pitcher Luke Farrell was helped off the field and taken to a nearby hospital after being struck in the face on a line drive hit by Giants prospect Jalen Miller on Saturday.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Miller hit a pitch from Farrell directly back toward the mound. Farrell immediately dropped to the ground as trainers rushed onto the field to check on him.
Farrell eventually stood up and walked off the field holding a towel to the left side of his jaw. A Rangers official said Farrell was receiving treatment at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, but the team did not know the severity of Farrell’s injury.
