SAN FRANCISCO -- It's odd enough that home runs by Joe Panik accounted for the first three runs of the Giants' 2018 season.
It's stranger still to consider that Panik is the man with the bam. He entered this season with 29 home runs in 1,626 career at-bats, not exactly a powerful ratio. Moreover, all 10 of Panik's homers last year came on the road, so circling the bases at AT&T Park was a novel experience for him.
Nevertheless, Panik remained the sole supporter of San Francisco's offense through the early innings of Tuesday's home opener against the Seattle Mariners.
