CHICAGO — The achievements were so overwhelming for Mike Benjamin that he was left with one thought:
“I’m not going to pinch myself for another three months,” Benjamin said after setting a major league record with 14 hits in three consecutive games, including six Wednesday.
He saved his best for his last at-bat by hitting an RBI single with two out in the 13th inning to give the Giants a bizarre 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in a game it appeared the Cubs had won twice in the 12th.
