Roger Craig, the winningest Giants manager in the team’s San Francisco history received a contract extension from general manager Al Rosen, on March 31, 1992.
The deal would take Craig through 1993 and was entirely justified, him being one of just two San Francisco skippers to take the Giants to a World Series.

But the fanfare was a bit muted. Near the end of the 1992 season Craig, 62, experienced chest pains and dizziness. He had an angioplasty and was back in the dugout three days later. He showed up at spring training looking like a man who was minding his diet and getting regular exercise.
