SAN FRANCISCO — Kelby Tomlinson never could have imagined his 2015 season ending with such a stirring run in the big leagues. A month after getting to San Francisco, Tomlinson did something else that would have seemed unlikely months earlier. He ordered an outfield glove.
Tomlinson spent part of October playing outfield in the instructional league and he’ll take fly balls while working out at an Oklahoma junior college this winter. With his speed and athleticism, many in the organization believe Tomlinson will be able to add the new position.
“If you watched him play at all, you realize he’s an incredible athlete,” right fielder Hunter Pence said.
